Coastal Paint Colours

Coastal Paint Colours

A coastal colour scheme in interior design is inspired by the natural colours of the ocean, sand, and sky. Coastal decor is often associated with a light and airy vibe, incorporating shades of blue, white, cream, and beige. In this feature we would like to talk about my favourite paint colours for coastal-inspired decorating. Coastal colours are very versatile—they can be inspired by the hues of the sea, sun, sand or sky. Here are some of my favourite paint colours by Dulux, Farrow & Ball and Little Greene.

Even if your nearest shoreline is many miles from your home, you can still create your coastal-inspired home (read our feature on ‘inland coastal design’). To help you capture the spirit of coastal living in your abode, here are the breeziest paint colour combos for your inspiration. Some elements that make up a coastal colour scheme in interiors.

Blue

Blue is the primary colour of a coastal interior design palette. It represents the colour of the water and can range from a pale sky-blue to a deep navy. Shades of blue can be used on walls, furniture, and decor elements such as textiles and artwork.

White

White is an essential part of any coastal colour scheme because it helps to create a bright and airy atmosphere. It can be used on walls, ceilings, furniture, and decor elements to create a clean and fresh look.

Sand and beige

These colours are often used as accent colours in coastal interiors to represent the colour of the sand. They can be used in textiles, such as throw pillows and blankets, or as paint colours for walls or furniture.

Green

Green is used to represent nature in coastal interiors, such as palm trees and beach grass. It can be found in textiles, artwork or as indoor plants.

Accents

Colours such as coral, turquoise, and seafoam green can be used as accents in a coastal interior design scheme. These colours add a bright pop of colour and create a playful vibe.

Coastal interior design colour schemes are inspired by the natural beauty of the beach and ocean. They can be described as light, airy, and fresh with a mix of blue, white, sand, and beige colours.
